Thanks to its location, Kuwait’s climate is amongst the hottest in the world. While it is less humid than the more southerly areas of the Arabian Gulf, such as the UAE or Oman, temperatures regularly reach above 45C in summer, meaning that it’s best to avoid visiting between May and September.
If you are in Kuwait during the summer, then stick to air-conditioned activities during the day and don’t even try to walk around town. The evenings, on the other hand, can be bearable and the streets and shops tend to come to life again after 7-8pm.
Winter temperatures can actually drop down to under 10C in the evenings, so it’s worth bringing extra clothing if you plan to be in Kuwait between November and February. The most pleasant times to be in Kuwait are the spring and autumn, when the weather is perfect for beach-going without being excessively hot.
As with most other Gulf countries, Ramadan (which in 2008 will be in September) sees almost all restaurants and cafes closed from dawn until dusk, with the exceptions being hotels.
