Visas for Kuwait

GCC nationals do not require a visa to enter Kuwait, and on arrival can go directly downstairs to the passport control and baggage claim area.

Nationals of around 35 other countries, including the UK, US, most EU countries, Australia and New Zealand, can buy a visa on arrival. After disembarking, follow the signs to the visa desk near Gate 22, pick up a numbered ticket from the machine, and wait for your number to be called.

The latest list of nationalities able to buy a visa on arrival information, is as follows:

  • United States of America, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Spain, Monaco, The Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Korea,  China, Poland.

Also note that:

  • All passengers must hold a return ticket.
  • Passengers should hold a passport valid for more than six months from the date of travel to Kuwait.
  • Passengers should provide an address in Kuwait when applying for the visa

Visas cost KD 3 ($11) and credit cards are accepted, but it’s best to have cash just in case – there’s a currency exchange counter and ATM opposite the visa counter if you don’t have Kuwaiti dinars. After getting the visa, go downstairs to the passport control area.

Visa rules in Kuwait are pretty stable, but always double-check regulations for any changes immediately before you travel – your embassy is a good place to start.
