Inside the airport
Dubai has an array of Business and First Class passenger lounges for different airlines, all of which are located on the Departures level.
If you're unsure which lounge you should be using or whether you need an invitation, then it's best to double-check with the airline staff when you check in your luggage.
- Passengers flying First and Business Class on Emirates have access to separate lounges, both of which can be found between Gates 20-22.
- KLM, Star Alliance, British Airways, Air France and Gulf Air all have their own dedicated lounges, between Gates 18 and 26 in the Departures area. The Gulf Air lounge was reopened in February 2008 with a new-look interior and seating: it is open between 5.30am and 1am, and also caters for premium class passengers on Oman Air and Virgin Atlantic.
- First and Business Class passengers on most other airlines should use the two Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) lounges. Business Class is at Gate 9-11 and First Class at Gates 12-14.
- Any passengers – including those travelling economy – can pay to use the Arabian-themed Marhaba Lounge, located at Gates 23-25. It costs $23 for four hours, and includes an open buffet and drinks. No sleeping or shower facilities are available, but this lounge is recommended if you’re staying inside the airport on a longer stopover and want somewhere to relax.
- If a quick snooze and shower is your idea of a perfect connection, then the 5-star Dubai International Hotel (Departure level, Gate 15, or Arrivals level) offers rooms by the hour. Rates vary according to the length of booking. For more information or bookings call +971 4 2244 000 or go to www.dubaiairport.com
