Inside the airport
Dubai’s airport has a full range of communications facilities, including internet, phone and postal services:
- Terminal 1 is now wireless-enabled for those with laptops in their hand luggage. It’s free to access.
- For those without laptops, there are two free internet use areas at either end of the Departures level inside the main concourse. They're often crowded, so be prepared to wait.
- For a little more privacy, and a seat, it’s possible to hire computer time or a phone booth at the Global Link centre (at Gate 16), which also has special rates for international calls.
- There are public payphones spread throughout the terminal, which accept major credit cards and local currency.
- Dubai has two local mobile phone networks, called Du and Etisalat. One of them will connect automatically if you’re using an overseas SIM card.
- Forgot to send that postcard? Use the Emirates Post office at Gate 18 on Departure level. It’s open 24 hours a day.
