As with the rest of the Arabian Gulf, Qatar’s climate is hot and dry for the majority of the year.
Temperatures reach their peak in June-August, with the thermometer regularly rising above 45 degrees and combining with oppressive humidity. Winter temperatures can drop down as low as 10-15 degrees, but there are still only 5-10 days of rain every year.
The most pleasant times to visit Qatar are between November and April, when it’s still warm enough to allow a walk along the Doha corniche. The skies also tend to be clearer in wintertime, unlike the heat haze which descends across the Gulf in summer.
If you’re in Qatar in the summer months, then you would be well advised to spend most of your time indoors. The one exception can be the evenings, when the city – and particularly the cornice – comes alive again.
