General information

Lebanon’s climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot, often humid summers, rainy winters and pleasant autumns and springs.

Summers can be uncomfortably hot and sticky, and it’s best to avoid visiting during July and August if you can help it, when temperatures are in the early to mid 30s. The blue skies tends to break in October, when dramatic thunderstorms roll in from the Mediterranean and bring periodic downpours with them.

The most pleasant times to visit Lebanon are in spring and autumn, when the temperature hovers in the early to mid-20s in Beirut. Bear in mind that temperatures will be a good deal colder in the Bekaa Valley and the mountains, which sit at an altitude of more than 600 metres.

Skiers and snowboarders should aim to visit Lebanon in January or February, when snow conditions at Lebanon’s ski resorts are at their best. Snow cover can be patchy, particularly in recent years, but theoretically the season can run from late December until early April.
