Staying in the airport
Use this section if you’re connecting in Beirut airport and don’t want to leave the airport between flights.
If you’re transferring through the airport, probably on Middle East Airlines (MEA), then you’ll need to follow the signs for the transfer area when you step off the plane and enter the airport. Not many passengers transfer through Beirut, so you might need to ask for assistance.
Once you’ve done the security checks, you’ll be directed into the main Departures area. From here, either head straight to your gate for an immediate departure, or read our Inside the Airport section for ideas of how to spend your time.
Most passengers should already have boarding cards for their onward flights, but if not, then ask at the transfer or information desks in the arrivals area.
Leaving the airport
Use this section if your final destination is Beirut itself, or if you’re on a stopover and have time to leave the airport between flights.
After disembarking, follow the signs to the arrivals and passport control area where there are two sections – one for Lebanese passport holders, and another for all different nationalities. If you are not a Lebanese citizen, then you will need to fill in one of the entry cards – see our Visas section for more details on this.
The baggage claim belts are laid out in a hall after passport control: after picking up your luggage, head out into the main arrivals hall, which is on the lower level of the airport. A number of Beirut’s hotels have counters here to receive guests.
You’ll also find a snack bar and a small shop. To get upstairs into the Departures area, which has a bureau de change, ATM and a number of other facilities, simply take the escalators.
Taxi drivers depart from just outside the arrivals hall: for more on getting to the city centre from the airport, use our Transport Options section
