Arriving and departing
The following visa information was current at January 2008.
Nationalities who are able to buy a short-stay visa on arrival at Bahrain airport (you will need at least 6 months validity left on your passport) are as follows:
- Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, the UK, the US, European Union members, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong.
Short-stay visas can be purchased on arrival at the passport control counters and cost BD5 ($13). The desks accept both cash and credit card payment, and you can find a 24-hour bureau de change next to the passport control area if you don’t have any Bahraini Dinars with you.
You can also apply and pay for visas in advance at www.evisa.gov.bh, but doing it at the airport is probably simpler.
If you are a citizen of a country which is not mentioned above, then you may well need to pre-arrange your entry visa for Bahrain. Check with your embassy for more details.
Generally, the visa policies in Bahrain are stable and unlikely to change at short notice, although it’s always best to double-check with your embassy before leaving.
