General information

The prevailing climate in Abu Dhabi is hot and dry, with more than 300 days of sunshine on average every year.

Daytime temperatures in the summer months (between June and September) rarely fall below 40ºC, and only cool off slightly in the evenings, which makes it inadvisable to spend too much time outside. Life in the summer tends to revolve around spending time in air-conditioned locations, whether it's malls, cinemas, offices or cars.

In winter the temperatures can fall as low as 10ºC, although rainfall in the city is pretty rare and you’ll still be treated to blue skies and the occasional fluffy cloud throughout the colder season. Out in the desert temperatures can drop much lower, so make sure you wrap up warm if you're venture out on a desert safari.

Between November and April is the most pleasant time to visit Abu Dhabi, when daytime temperatures are still warm enough to permit a walk along the corniche or even a trip to the beach.

If you are in town during the warmer parts of the year, then always wear a hat, drink plenty of water and stock up on the suntan lotion.
