Arriving and departing
At the time of writing in December 2007, the following nationalities were eligible for a free 60-day tourist visa upon arrival in Abu Dhabi:
Other nationalities
If you do not belong to one of the above nationalities, then it is possible to receive a 96-hour transit visa which will allow you to leave the airport and re-enter again within 96 hours. The visa is issued on arrival at the airport, although your journey must meet the following conditions:
- Minimum of 8 hour transit time
- You must have an onward booking with your airline, who sponsor the visa
The UAE's visa policy is relatively stable and sudden changes are unlikely. However, it's always best to double-check before you leave, either through the website of your home country's embassy, or use www.uaeinteract.com/travel/visas.asp as a starting point.
